Update: 19 May 2007: Latest News on saving Blockley Shop and Post Office

Positive steps are being taken to rescue the shop following public pressure at the annual parish meeting for the retention of the shop and post office in their present premises.

The Save Our Shop committee is setting up a co-op and Blockley Parish Council has agreed to fund an independent market valuation of the shop premises by the District Valuer.

At the same time the committee is putting together a detailed business plan and is looking at ways of raising the money to buy the shop.

A public meeting will be held in late June when further details of the rescue bid will be announced. Look out for posters with the date and time of the meeting. A website is also being set up to keep residents informed about the fight to save the shop.

The future of the Post Office is still uncertain and so, please, if you haven’t already done so, write to Nigel Parry at Nigel Parry, Field Change Adviser, Post Office Ltd, Royal Mail, 1st Floor Admin, Swansea Mail Centre, Siemens Way, Swansea, SA11AA.
